(Highlight to View) Prompt: Threads. As light as gossamer or spun into a thread; holding things together at the seams; yarn woven into a tapestry or the warmest blanket; twisted into string, a cord, a rope. Threads of memory or of hair. Loose threads.
Note: I had too many ideas for this prompt. This is one of them.
Summary: Severus is dark and twisty. Hermione is bright and bold. And yet they fit together.
This is a necklace-and-earrings set representing Severus and Hermione and their lives being knotted together; the central part of the necklace is a seamless knot, one half dark and twisty Severus, the other half bright and bold Hermione. Severus's cord is black (naturally) and done in a very twisty spiral. Hermione's cord is a blend of gold and brown and orange, the colours of fire, of Gryffindor, and her bushy irrepressible hair. Hermione is warm to Severus's cool, and she is blazing fire when she has found a cause. Severus is dark and cool, yes, but black is also a symbol of protection, and who better a protector than Severus?

Technical notes: The necklace is made of 8-strand and 16-strand Kumihimo braids in artificial silk. The earrings are made with the same yarn, crocheted into a hoop. I tried three different designs for the earrings before I got one that worked.
