Type: Art & Fic
(Highlight to View) Warning(s): None.
(Highlight to View) Prompt: (Art or Fic): This could be either. Quote "If I had a flower for every time I thought of you... I could walk through my garden forever" Tennyson. SS/HG.
Note: Thank you, savine_snape, for such a lovely prompt.
(Highlight to View) Technical Note: Chainmaille necklace, the weaves are - rather appropriately - Daisy Chain 0 and Daisy Chain 0 spiral weave. The links are silver-plated Brass (ID=4mm WD=1.5mm AR=2.67). This is abundantly embellished with transparent glass, Swarovski crystal, and silver-plated flowers, leaves, butterflies and jingle bells. Earrings: transparent glass, Swarovski crystal and silver-plated flowers and butterflies. Thanks to Reynardo for the ending of the ficlet; her suggestion was much better than what I originally had. As for the necklace itself... at one point I had four different competing ideas for the design. I decided to just go ahead with the first one to see if it would work, and it did... so the other designs are still there, waiting... some day...
Summary: An unexpected gift.
The bag was a silvery-grey gauze, semi-transparent enough for Hermione to see the silver and crystal glittering inside. The scrap of parchment beside the bag was unsigned, but she recognised the spiky writing.
If I had a flower for every time I thought of you... I could walk through my garden forever.
It had to be a quote from something; Severus would never be so unabashedly romantic in his own words.
Hermione pulled open the drawstrings. As she lifted out what was inside, it... tinkled. The chain was heavy, but it wasn't just a chain. It twisted in a spiral, and every curve had clusters of flowers and leaves - silver and clear glass - and bells like silver berries. Scattered through this garden were silver butterflies. Nestled in the bottom of the bag was a pair of matching earrings, with more flowers hanging from them.
So many flowers, so many thoughts, so much love.
Hermione looked up.
"Severus?" She held out her hand to him. "Walk with me, then?"
He smiled back at her, and took her hand. "Always."
